This series of oil paintings is inspired by the novel of the same name, written by Joris-Karl Huysmans. The book created in 1884 was a kind of manifest for the art movement called Decadence - the style which lies in the basis of my works. In general, if we look closer to the modern art and social life we can easily notice that everything what is happening now in our world has obvious decadence features (the crisis of European Union, absurd court session about art group Pussy Riot in Russia and so on.)
My works is an observation, reflection, an attempt to interpret the things that takes place in contemporary life, especial in art market. Nowadays a huge amount of new artists has been appeared who makes a lot of "pieces of art" which has been thrown like bones into the field full of happy art critics and others (e.g. mentioned court session on Pussy Riot in Russia). Such amount of masterpieces and modern technical possibilities often prevents us from seeing the true art.
I want to separate the art from the craft, to uncover the pure creativity and let it be the bone itself without useless artificial substances of craft on it, which are often only a fake, illusion that prevents us from attending the art piece.
